Selenite Stone Meaning and General Information
Selenite has a meaning of clarity and consciousness. It is known as the goddess stone and is named after the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene. She had the power to light up the night and had an ever-changing personality that seemed to ebb and flow. She was the daughter of Hyperion and Thea and is depicted riding a horse or winged chariot with a lunar crescent as a crown on her head.
The stone is often used for shifting energy blocks. Selenite has a history of being a loved goddess stone. The stone is believed to bring protection, harmony, and soul healing to the body, mind, and home. This gemstone is also associated with the April birthstone since it’s related to Taurus.
The Selenite gemstone is often more compared in nature to a feather rather than a rock. As one of the softer stones in existence, it can be a great and vivid reminder that we should move through the world and life with a sense of gentleness.
In history, priests would crush Selenite into a paste to paint onto the doors if someone was ill, in the belief that it could help them to recover faster. Selenite comes in a few usual shapes, the hourglass, the wand, the tower, and a plate. The hourglass is most used for grounding and raising awareness, while the wand probably the most common shape, is used to cleanse the aura, move stagnant energy, and encourage flow. The tower is believed to have the ability to create a protective shield, amplify energy and dispel negative energy. The plate is mainly used to be a charger for the other crystals you may have, it is said to supply massive amounts of light energy.
