Fluorite gives the feeling of direction, confidence, and self-love. It is known for its clarity and mental enhancement. Its innate ability to assist in clearing negative energy and aiding decision-making has made this a favorite stone to work with. This powerful crystal is known as an absorber of negative energy, specifically within one’s aura and mind.
It was first referenced in the year 1530. Fluorite commonly occurs in the veins and deposits of South Africa, China, Mexico, Mongolia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Argentina. Multiple colors have been known to occur on the same specimen and are said to be found near Smoky Quartz and Calcite.
In history, it’s fragility and breathtaking beauty made it a symbol of ultimate wealth within various cultures. The word “fluorite” originates from the Latin word flux, which means to flow interchangeably. This word both refers to how fluorite’s colors shift and blend in the light and how it unblocks stagnant energy and promotes energetic flow.
The stone is allochromatic, meaning it can be tinted with elemental impurities. Fluorite comes in various colors and has consequently been dubbed “the most colorful mineral in the world.” Fluorite samples and white, black, and clear crystals represent every color of the rainbow in various shades.
The most common colors are purple, blue, green, yellow, or colorless. Less common are pink, red, white, brown, and black. Color zoning or banding is commonly present. Factors including impurities, exposure to radiation, and the absence of voids of the color centers determine the color of the Fluorite.
Never put Fluorite in your water. It can cause serious internal damage. It is not safe to ingest.
